A day in the life.
As our Claims Consultant on the Business Insurance team, you'll provide quality property, auto, and liability (PAL) claims consulting services to MMA Michigan clients. Responsibilities include obtaining claim status updates from carrier partners, providing suggestions and recommendations to adjusters to assist with claim resolutions, developing claims management strategies with clients and documenting activity. Services should help clients reduce the cost of claims and provide clients with the necessary information to determine the best claims management approach for their organizations. Duties include training, acting as an educational resource, public speaking, prospecting, partnering with HR/Safety/etc. to develop best client outcomes.
This position has the ability to work out of any of our Michigan offices in Livonia, Troy, or Grand Rapids.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform Claims Consultations For MMA Michigan Clients:
Respond to customer questions and concerns on claims issues
Act as a liaison and client advocate to our carrier partners
Perform assigned key client work and consistently meet the monthly key client deadline
Prepare and coordinate in-person and telephonic claims reviews with the carriers, producers and clients
Perform special claim coverage research as needed.
Notify Claims Manager and Producers and Account Executives of large claims with anticipated reserves greater than $100,000 or typically defined as fatalities, extensive fire or water claims
Negotiate claims matters with the adjuster, adjuster's supervisor, or the claims manager
Identify and request reserve reductions from claims adjusters when appropriate to do so. Track reductions in appropriate team spreadsheet.
Be able to explain and recommend post claims management strategies to internal and external clients.
Understand and explain claims trending including experience modification projections and current trending performance
Understand and Explain cost analysis for claim decisions
Maintain Relationships With Insurance Carriers And Vendors:
Coordinate, conduct and participate in appropriate meetings to ensure proper activities are being performed to meet goals.
Keep team informed of vendor and carrier personnel changes.
Communicate with insurance carriers to develop special handling instructions for clients. Work with carrier to achieve best communication between all parties.
Participate in carrier claims advisory boards
Reinforce carrier relationships through regularly scheduled meetings
Act As An Advisor/Consultant For Producers On Sales Calls/Meetings With Clients:
Participate in prospect and client calls/meetings as required.
Provide Claims Management expertise to producers on client specific issues, meeting directly with the client in support of the producer when needed.
Provide direct customer service to the client on accounts where it is required
Partner with MMA Claims Analyst to complete trending analysis
Identify program design opportunities to suit the prospect's needs
Make recommendations/solutions to present to the prospect
Participate in final sales presentations as required
Educational Speaking Opportunities
Conduct seminars to internal and external clients as well as prospects
Participate as an expert in carrier and client forums
Present Claims Boot Camps tailored to client specific needs
Additional Responsibilities Necessary To Successfully Complete Role.

We'd love to meet you if your professional track record includes these skills:
3-7 years of PAL claims experience including strong knowledge of insurance carrier claims services.
Bachelor's degree preferred
Must be detailed with excellent organizational and time management skills.
Good interpersonal skills and high sense of urgency.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Prior success and experience operating in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to effectively build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, management and peers.
Strong interpersonal and customer-service-related skills.
Proficiency in MS office applications required.
AIC, ARM, CIC or CRM, equivalent preferred.
